For the past month, I come home everyday, and I think to myself, “Hmm, I really should update the blog.” However, it seems to remain just a thought, and all those thoughts of documentation have to take a backseat to the sweet baby boy who now lives at my house (which really is perfectly okay with me).
Therefore, since I do have not had time to share my life with you guys much over the past month, I will take this opportunity to do so in the form of pictures (everyone loves a good picture book).
This is the drying rack that sits out on our counter and most likely won’t get moved for many months. Can you tell the boy likes to eat?
No, the picture is not crooked. If you look on the bottom right hand side of the crib, you will notice that it is propped on three 2×4′s. Our sweet boy has had significant issues with reflux, and very understanding friends at church who dealt with the same thing with their child loaned us their 2×4′s. For anyone wondering, these create a 30-degree angle which is the sleeping angle recommended for those with reflux.
Who knew a baby required so much stuff? Well, I “knew” they did, but I think somewhere in the back of my mind I just figured that the people who lived with baby items strewn about their house were being maybe a bit inefficient (yes, please feel free to mock and chastise me). I now understand the necessity of having a swing, a bouncy chair, a baby gym, a boppy, and a bumbo all in one room of your house. I am embracing the chaos that has become my living room.
I’m tempted to offer a prize to anyone who can guess what is under this pile of laundry. Yes, it is our dining room table, and it has been that way since I came home from the hospital. Now generally the laundry on the table is folded, but it still sits there. The husband asked me the other day what I was going to do about the table when we hosted life group at our house in a couple of weeks. My response was that I would probably stack it on our bed and then when everyone leaves I would move it back to the table (I tell you, it is a baby-dressing system). In fact, I may even ask everyone to grab a pile of clothes and help move them back to the table before they leave.
Did you notice what was hanging from the chandelier? It is the most darling owl mobile! It was a gift from a wonderful lady at church, and it makes me smile just looking at it. Since we haven’t gotten it hung above Jack’s bed just yet, he and I stop and look at it and play with it each day.
Well, Jack has started to stir, and so I must abandon this post for now. I may come back and edit it later, or I may just post it as is.
P.S. Notice the pretty pink bumbo that Jack is sitting in in the top picture. We do not mind borrowing pink baby items from sweet friends. Our boy is comfortable with his feminine side.

DARLING BABY BOY!!! Again. . .I ache to hold him. Not long now!!!
And Bumbos are a new creature that I didn’t even have. . .as well as that fancy schmancy swing. My kids still used a wind-up. At least, Victoria did. Thad HATED the swing. AND the bouncy seat. AND the excersaucer. He liked ME. Boppies were relatively new with Thad, so we didn’t have that either. We DID have an activity mat of sorts. It totally stressed Victoria out when she was a newborn. Thad just wrestled it.
Hug your boy for me. I just put mine (all 100 pounds of him) to bed.
BTW–who needs a dining room table when you don’t EAT at the table. . .I ate many a meal while nursing. When I told my mom that I was spilling food all over myself while nursing at the dinner table, she suggested I use a spoon. The voice of wisdom you know. Maybe I should just write you a letter.
You’re too funny. Yes, I think you should write me a letter.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but in my experience, the living room worsens as the kid grows. I don’t know what our chaos will look like with TWO kids, but I’m trying to mentally prepare myself. I suspect a number of Marin’s items will find new homes in her “little big girl” room this summer to make way for the wee babe’s circus of stuff… Oy.
